Solar Carport Installation: 1 Year Performance Review – Marten Transport

October 2015 marked the 1 year anniversary of Royal Solar’s covered parking solar installation for Marten Transport in Phoenix, AZ.

Let’s take a look at the solar system’s production.

The Marten Transport carport solar installation consists of (600) LG 275 watt solar panels and (600) Enphase Energy M215 micro inverters.  The resulting system is a 165 kWp-DC solar system installed over 60 parking spaces at Marten Transport’s facility in Phoenix, Arizona.

The solar system was originally projected to produce 267,000 kWh in Year 1, with 0.5% degradation per year in expected kWh production.

Per the Enphase Energy monitoring system Enlighten, Royal Solar is able to remotely monitor and verify the solar system’s daily, weekly, monthly , and annual production on a per-panel basis.

As of the solar system’s first anniversary, lifetime production is reported as 272 MWh compared to the expected 267 MWh (1 MWh = 1,000 kWh).  This translates to 102% actual kWh production vs. expected over the first year of system operation.

Per the below chart, you can see that the system consistently over produces electricity on sunny days throughout the calendar year.
